War On Driving

Mayor Bloomberg: NYC Should Have Cameras at Every Intersection

New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg has just declared war on his city’s drivers and the state legislature.

In true nanny-statist style, Bloomberg advocates not only using dangerous red light scameras to make his intersections more profitable in the name of “safety,” but also wants to “embarrass” drivers who are caught in what’s called the dilemma zone. If Bloomberg gets his way, they will all “have their pictures published in the newspapers”

He also called out the state legislature in Albany for acting as a roadblock to his Big Brother master plan for the city.

It’s obvious to commuters in NYC that many intersections are poorly designed and have horrible signal timing. Bloomberg is clearly just looking for an excuse to allow the problem to continue and cash in on this revenue generating scheme.

New Yorkers haven’t really woken up to the tactics being used against them to extract their cash, to the tune of $52 Million/year, but you can bet they will when Bloomberg muscles his way into adding 50% more red light cameras, with speed cameras on the way.

It’s only a matter of time before the backlash hits New York just as it has in AZ, CA, WA, MO, OH, TX, FL and GA.
